Statement from Stratford Mall Management
Following recent media coverage regarding a leasing decision at Stratford Mall, our team has unfortunately been the recipient of harassment, threats, and concerns based on misinformation.
We understand that Stratford Mall is an important part of the community, and we recognize that decisions involving the property can prompt strong feelings and public discussion. People care deeply about the mall just as we do.
As operators of Stratford Mall, we have a responsibility to ensure the long-term health, stability and sustainability of the property for all tenants, employees, visitors, and the broader community. This responsibility requires us to make difficult leasing decisions when a business is not meeting the contractual obligations of its lease. These decisions are made carefully and with thoughtful consideration of the overall long-term future of the mall.
Over the past several years, we have worked to strengthen the property, adding more than 10 new stores, including national tenants and locally-owned small businesses. We will continue to enhance the mall’s offerings, including improvements to the food and retail mix, and we look forward to sharing further updates in the future.
We want you to know that we are actively listening to the concerns we have received and appreciate members of the community who have reached out in a respectful manner. We value constructive conversation and respectfully ask that all dialogue remain factual and civil.
